Kale can be planted and supplied all year round. There are early-maturing, mid-maturing and late-maturing varieties. The early-maturing ones need to be cultivated in the open field and can be supplied from June to October. If they are planted from September to March of the following year, choose late-maturing varieties so that they can be supplied from November to May of the following year.

1. Seed treatment

Kale is sown with seeds, and the selection of seeds is very important. First, select the seeds, which should be plump, full, healthy and free of pests and diseases. Such seeds have a higher survival rate. In order to increase the germination rate of seeds, soak the seeds in warm water for about 2-3 hours, remove them and control the water, wrap them in a wet cloth and then place them in an environment of 25-30℃ for germination.

2. Prepare the Seedbed

When kale is planted in suitable soil, it grows faster and has higher quality. Prepare loose, breathable, fertile and nutritious soil in advance, apply well-rotted organic fertilizer, and then spray with fungicide for disinfection.

3. Sowing

Kale seeds are generally sown by broadcasting, evenly spreading the seeds into the soil. Cover with a thin layer of soil about 0.5 cm thick. Cover with a shade net after sowing and water enough to maintain humidity, but prevent the water from washing away the seeds.

4. Maintenance and management

Kale can be sown directly or raised and transplanted. When the seedlings grow three true leaves, they can be transplanted. It likes a humid environment, so be sure to water it in time, do a good job of topdressing, and weed in time to prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.
