May Flower God 1: Zhong Dao

After the light rain, the lotus leaves turn over and the pomegranate flowers bloom.

Legend has it that the flower god of pomegranate flowers is Zhong Dao. The weather in May gradually becomes hotter, which is a peak period for diseases. Therefore, the "Ghost King" in folk legends became the main object of people's belief. According to legend, Zhong Dao, who had a violent temper during his lifetime, vowed to eliminate all demons and monsters in the world after his death. Its hatred of evil is exactly the same as the fierce temperament of the pomegranate flower that blooms in the fire. Therefore, people regard Zhong Dao, who can drive away ghosts and evil, as the god of the pomegranate flower.

Pomegranate flowers bloom in May, which is also the period when plague is prevalent. Zhong Kui, who is known for exorcising evil spirits, is naturally crowned the god of pomegranate flowers.

May Flower God II: Gongsun

Gongsun Da Niang was one of the outstanding dancers in the Tang Dynasty and was famous for her dance "Sword". She inherited the traditional sword dance and created many other dances. Du Fu, a Tang Dynasty poet, described her sword dance: "A long time ago, there was a beautiful woman named Gongsun. Her sword dance was so stunning that it moved the four directions. The spectators felt as if the mountains were depressed, and the heaven and earth were low and high for a long time. She was as swift as Yi shooting down the nine suns, and as agile as the emperors riding dragons. She came like thunder and ended like the clear light of the river and the sea." It is said that the cursive calligraphy of Zhang Xu, the master of cursive script, was inspired by her sword dance. The dance is graceful and unpredictable, just like a pomegranate blossom.
