When and how to plant tulips

When and how to plant tulips

1. Planting time

Usually, tulips are planted in autumn, roughly between late October and December. The specific time should be based on the climate of the area. It should not be planted in too cold weather, otherwise it will affect its rooting. Generally speaking, if it is planted in a greenhouse, the time can be chosen in early December, so that it can cater to festivals such as New Year's Day and the Spring Festival.

2. Planting Method

1. Prepare potting soil: Before starting planting, you need to prepare the flower pots and soil. The diameter of the flower pot should not be too small, about 20cm will be enough. The soil should be breathable and some base fertilizer should be added to the soil. If you want to prepare the soil yourself, you can mix leaf mold, sandy soil and base fertilizer in a ratio of 6:3:1.

2. Disinfect the bulbs: The bulbs must be disinfected before planting. You can use a carbendazim solution and place it in the disinfectant for about half an hour.

3. Planting: The planting method is very simple, place the bulb in the center of the flowerpot. Don’t plant it too deep, about 1.5 times the size of the bulb will be enough. After that, slowly fill the soil and gently press the soil around it to fix the bulb. It is important to note that the bulbs should not be damaged.

4. Planting and maintenance: Water it thoroughly after planting, because if the soil is too dry, the bulbs will be difficult to germinate. After germination, fertilize it about every 10 days.
