Making and caring for juniper bonsai

Juniper Selection

The juniper used for bonsai mainly comes from the mountains, and the best time to dig it is between February and March.

Better quality juniper can be found in mountains above 1,500 meters above sea level.

In addition to digging juniper in the mountains, it can also be artificially propagated. Juniper is a plant that likes fertilizer, so it grows relatively quickly.

Cultivation methods

First of all, the branches of juniper should be pruned. The key is to prune the roots and branches. Root pruning is to reduce the growth range of the roots to prepare for the subsequent potting. Branch pruning is also for better potting. As for how to prune, it depends on the actual situation of the juniper and the size of the prepared flower pot. However, it should be noted that when pruning the branches, you must not prune too many branches and leaves, which is not conducive to the survival of the juniper.

Another thing to note is that during construction, you need to protect its dead branches and trunks, which will make it more selective in future shaping.

After the repair, attention should be paid to maintaining the temperature and humidity for the growth of juniper. Such measures are more conducive to improving the survival rate. When the juniper begins to grow new buds and leaves around April, the normal growth and cultivation process can be carried out. Basically, at this time, it can be determined whether the juniper survives.
