How to make a Selaginella bonsai

How to make a Selaginella bonsai

Basin Selection

When making Selaginella bonsai, it is best to use a light purple clay pot or a marble pot with a very shallow rim. The effect will be better if a natural inkstone pot is used.

Terrain Processing

Use soil to make two mountains with a valley in the middle. The valley should form a winding irregular S-shaped curve to give people a sense of depth and mystery. The slope of the hillside should be steep and gentle, striving to conform to the natural terrain and be full of changes.

Planting

Choose the tallest Selaginella with the longest branches as the main landscape tree and plant it on one side of the valley. The guest landscape trees on the other side should be lower than the main landscape tree. Next to the main tree should be planted secondary trees that are slightly lower than the main tree. When planting, pay attention to the mutual echo, and follow the principle of "all trees bow down, with the main tree being the most respected".

It is easier to appreciate it if the viewing area is wide. Tall Selaginella should be chosen in the front, and small trees should be planted in the back to create a hazy perspective effect and produce a profound artistic conception.

Laying of moss plants

Because the Selaginella is relatively short, you should choose moss that is close to the ground. At the same time, the moss should not be spread too thickly, and there should be no more than two varieties. This can bring out the height of the Selaginella and ensure the harmony and unity of the entire picture.

Accessories placement

In order to better highlight the layers and depth of the forest, you can place cows, street lamps, houses and other ornaments under the main tree to create a realistic scene as much as possible.
