How to grow cactus

How to grow cactus

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The most important requirements are drainage and air permeability. Sandy loam or calcareous sandy soil can be selected. Do not choose soil that is too fertile as it can easily damage the roots.

(2) Watering: The most water is needed in summer, and it is best to water in the morning and evening. Never water at noon as this may burn the leaves. If it is a rainy day, the amount of water should not be too large. As the temperature drops, the demand for water will slowly decrease. The general principle is to water thoroughly when the soil is dry.

(3) Fertilization: You can use decomposed bean cake water, egg water, etc., which you can prepare yourself. However, be careful to add enough water and the concentration should not be too high. It is mainly used in spring and autumn, once every 20 days, and if the growth rate is fast, once every half a month. Also pay attention to the time, it is best to do it in the early morning or evening.

(4) Temperature: It prefers warmth, preferably between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. It is not cold-resistant and the winter temperature should not be lower than five degrees. In addition, the temperature difference between day and night should not be too large.

(5) Light: Cactus plants are strongly sun-loving and require very strong light to grow well and bloom well. However, some small spherical varieties can be placed in semi-shaded areas, and their characteristics are slightly different.

2. Disease prevention and control

Most susceptible to rot. First, cut off the infected part, and if the disease is serious, change the pot. Next, strictly control water and improve ventilation.
