How to grow Lithops in autumn

1. Autumn maintenance is more important

For Lithops, autumn care is more important. Because this period is a rare period of growth and development for it, and it is also the period when its flower buds develop. In addition, autumn itself is a time when climate change is very dramatic. Therefore, maintenance at this stage is of great significance.

2. Maintenance methods

1. Watering: In autumn, you can water more often because the formation of flower buds requires water. However, considering that Lithops does not require much water, it can be watered once every two weeks.

2. Fertilization: Some fertilizer is needed in autumn to promote flowering. Liquid fertilizer can be used once every two to three weeks. Be careful not to get fertilizer on the surface of the plant. If the soil lacks nutrients, you can add some solid organic fertilizer, such as decomposed animal manure.

3. Pollination: Around September, Lithops will slowly begin to bloom. Its flowering period usually lasts for a week. We can pollinate at this stage, but the timing must be chosen well. In the first two days, the stamens are not yet mature, so it is best not to pollinate at this time. After three to five days, the stamens are more mature, and this is the best time for pollination. Use cross-pollination methods and use tools such as cotton swabs to help pollination. After pollination, if you observe that its flowers slowly wither, it means it is successful.
