How to propagate bicolor jasmine

How to propagate bicolor jasmine

Seed propagation of bicolor jasmine

Seed propagation is a very common method of propagation for bicolor jasmine. First, you need to select suitable seeds. After disinfection and germination, sow them into the soil, cover them with soil about twice the size of the seeds, and then spray the soil wet.

After that, you need to slowly wait for the plant to sprout and grow roots. Remember to keep the soil moist. In winter, when the temperature is low, you need to keep it warm. Just wrap the flowerpot with a plastic bag.

Cutting propagation of bicolor jasmine

When taking cuttings for bicolor jasmine, the method of softwood cuttings is generally chosen. Between late spring and early autumn, branches grown in the current year of the plant are selected as cuttings. For hardwood cuttings, branches from the previous year are generally selected as cuttings in early spring.

When grafting, you can use coarse sand as the substrate. After cleaning, you can graft the bicolor jasmine.

Layering propagation of bicolor jasmine

Layering is also a common propagation method for bicolor jasmine. When layering, choose strong branches, peel off the outer skin about 30 cm below the top of the branch, and use the ring-barking method.

After peeling off the skin, cover the wound with a piece of plastic wrap and add some moist soil. Pay attention to piercing the upper and lower ends, and wait for it to slowly take root, which will take about 4-6 weeks.
