When to sow primroses

When to sow primroses

1. Sowing time

Seeding is the most commonly used method of propagation for primroses. The sowing time is very important and has a great impact on seed germination. Generally speaking, the choice of time mainly considers the temperature, and sowing can only be done when the temperature is suitable. It is common to sow in May, June, September and October. The temperature at this time meets the requirements for germination and can provide it with conditions for natural germination.

2. Other matters needing attention

If you want the seeds to germinate successfully, it is not enough to just consider the time, there are also the following matters needing attention:

1. Seed storage: After collecting seeds, it is best to sow them immediately. If you don't want to sow immediately, you need to store it in a cool and dry place. When sowing seeds, try to choose larger seeds.

2. Substrate and flower pots: Choose loose, easily drained soil, preferably fine soil. You can mix leaf mold and garden soil, but choose the slightly finer part. When sowing, mix the seeds into fine sand and then sprinkle them into the substrate. It is best to choose a shallow flower pot.

3. Post-sowing management: After sowing, watering is required first. You can use the "pot immersion method", place the flower pot in a basin of water, and let the water slowly seep into the flower pot. Wait until the surface substrate is wet before removing it. Place in semi-shade. After about one to two weeks, it will sprout and can be moved to a bright place.
