Wheat Growth Environment and Conditions

Wheat is divided into spring wheat and winter wheat. With the Great Wall as the dividing line, spring wheat is mainly grown in the north, while winter wheat is mainly grown in the south. Winter wheat is the main crop in my country.

Wheat is distributed in both the north and south of China, and is cultivated in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu, northern and central Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang.

Wheat growing conditions

Wheat has high requirements for soil. It prefers soil with deep layers, good structure, rich in organic matter and good drainage. Sandy soil and heavy clay have poor structure and it is difficult to achieve high yields. It is a long-day crop with 8 to 12 hours of light a day. If the sunlight conditions are insufficient, it cannot pass the light stage and it is difficult to ear and bear fruit.

Wheat growing temperature

The suitable daily average temperature for winter varieties is 16 to 18 degrees, for semi-winter varieties it is 14 to 16 degrees, and for spring varieties it is 12 to 14 degrees. The temperature is affected by the geographical latitude and altitude, that is, the higher the latitude and altitude, the lower the temperature, and the earlier the sowing period can be.

The growth process of wheat

Wheat is divided into spring wheat and winter wheat, so the planting time is different. In North my country, it is mainly sown in November in winter, and in Northeast China, it is sown in March-April in spring. Since the temperature in Northeast my country is very low, it cannot be planted in winter. The temperature in North China is suitable and relatively stable, so multiple rotations can be carried out.

1. After wheat is sown, it will go through the growth and development process of germination, emergence, tillering, overwintering, greening, jointing, heading, heading, flowering, filling, and maturity.

2. After spring, wheat seedlings begin to resume growth and enter the greening period. After the temperature rises, the growth rate of wheat seedlings accelerates and they enter the jointing stage. The wheat stalks have obvious protruding nodes. After jointing, the differentiating wheat ears grow upward, and the young ears grow into the leaf sheaths of the top leaves. The leaf sheaths will swell, which is called ear pregnancy.

3. The heading period of wheat is from April to May. It blooms 2-6 days after heading. After flowering and fertilization, the wheat will immediately enter the maturity stage. Winter wheat is generally planted in the North China Plain. It is planted after November 1st and grows about 10 centimeters. It does not grow in winter. It will turn green after the temperature rises in the spring of the following year, and then it will start to grow. It is harvested around June 1st every year.
