How to propagate roundleaf arrowroot

How to propagate roundleaf arrowroot

Propagation of round-leaved arrowroot by division

The general method of propagation of round-leaved arrowroot is division. The temperature in spring is around 20℃, and it is best to carry out division at this time. As long as the temperature and humidity are suitable, propagation can be carried out throughout the year. When propagating, use a sharp knife to cut the root pieces with stems, leaves or leaf buds; if it is a small-scale propagation, the cut root pieces with stems, leaves or leaf buds can be placed directly in the flowerpot; if it is a large-scale propagation, then they should be placed on the seedbed; when the temperature and humidity do not meet the requirements, cover them with a film; the temperature inside the film must reach 20 to 28°C, and the humidity must be above 80%.

Cutting propagation of round-leaved arrowroot

Cutting propagation uses the top tender shoots, and the cuttings are 10 to 15 cm long. Depending on the size of the leaves, retain one-third or one-half of the leaves. The cuttings are treated with 500 ppm of naphthaleneacetic acid for 2 to 3 seconds, and can also be treated with indoleacetic acid and ABT rooting powder. After the cuttings are processed, they are inserted into the seedbed with a spacing of 5 by 10 cm between rows and plants. Cover the spike with a film arch shed, and the management method is the same as for division propagation. Cutting propagation can be carried out at any time as long as the temperature is not lower than 20 degrees. The cuttings will take root in 30 to 50 days, but the survival rate of cuttings will not be as high as that of division propagation, and the general survival rate is around 50%.

This is all I have to say about the main propagation methods of round-leaved arrowroot. Round-leaved arrowroot is suitable for home interior decoration or greening purposes. It can be placed in a brighter room for viewing.
