How to prune the roots of the Master Succulent

The roots of the Master Succulent need to be trimmed

The root system of a mature plant of Eupatorium is very developed. In addition to the main root, there are also numerous capillary roots. The capillary roots are entangled together and will hinder the breathing of the roots, which is not conducive to the germination and growth of new roots. Therefore, in this case, it is recommended to trim the roots.

Root pruning for newly purchased Echeveria : Root pruning for newly purchased Echeveria online is necessary, mainly by trimming off the capillary roots and keeping the main root part.

Root pruning of hydroponic Master : Hydroponic Master succulents need root pruning. Cut the mature and strong stems from the mother plant, and then wash them clean. Especially the lower end of the stem must be fresh. Do not dry it into an old wound, and try to ensure that the part inserted into the water is fresh.

Master Succulent Root Pruning and Potting

1. Clean the leaves : If the newly bought succulent has many withered leaves, you need to remove them in advance to prevent pests from hiding inside and infecting other plants. Remove the soil originally brought by the succulent plants, and then cut off all the necrotic and dry roots to retain the healthy and vigorous main roots.

2. Root washing : When washing the roots, place the roots of the Master Plant in the water and shake them. The amplitude should not be too large. Wash them gently and try to reduce damage to the roots.

3. Drying the roots : Plants that have just had their roots trimmed cannot be planted immediately, because the wounds of the plants are easily infected by pathogens. Under normal circumstances, succulents need to be placed in a ventilated and cool place to dry the wounds. This is conducive to the drying and healing of the root trimming wounds and avoids infection of the wounds after planting.

4. Potting : After pruning the roots of the succulent plant, let it air dry for one day before potting. It is not recommended to leave it air-dried for too long.

Maintenance of Master Succulent after root pruning

1. It is not advisable to water the plant immediately after potting. It usually takes about a week to give it a small amount of water. Normal watering can only be provided after the plant has fully adapted to the pot and resumed normal growth.

2. Generally, after a week, the roots of the plant will basically resume growth, and you can provide it with light at this time, but do not expose it to the sun for too long. Providing direct sunlight is also a gradual process, and the light intensity also needs to be controlled.
