1. Family

Hyacinthus is a perennial herb belonging to the Liliaceae family. It is also called Western daffodil, five-color daffodil, foreign daffodil, and fashionable brocade. It is now distributed in a wide area. The largest number of cultivation is in the Netherlands. It is now planted and cultivated in various regions of my country.

2. Morphological characteristics

There is a larger bulb underneath the hyacinth, which is spherical or oblate in shape and covered with a membranous outer skin, and looks more like garlic. Hyacinth has 4-9 leaves, which are lanceolate in shape, relatively thick, fleshy, with shallow longitudinal grooves, and green in color. Its flowers are racemes with 10-20 small flowers densely distributed on them. The corolla is funnel-shaped with 5 lobes. The flowers come in many colors, including purple, yellow, red, crimson, goose yellow, blue, pink, white, etc.

3. Growth habits

Hyacinth can be grown in water or soil. It likes sunlight and grows better in places with good light. Suitable for growing in loose, breathable sandy soil. It likes a warm growing environment and needs to be kept cool in summer.

4. Reproduction Methods

Hyacinthus can be propagated by sowing and dividing bulbs, and division is the more commonly used method.

5. Toxic

The bulbs of hyacinth are poisonous and should not be eaten accidentally, otherwise it will cause discomfort to the human body.
