Suitable planting time for allium

Allium sibiricum can be planted all year round, but it grows best in a warmer environment, and spring is the best time to plant it. There are two ways to plant allium sibiricum, the bulb seedling method is planted in April-May or September-October, and the seed seedling method is planted in March-April or September-October.

Planting methods and key points of allium

1. Choose seeds: It is best to choose fresher seeds when planting alliums. Their lifespan is only 2 years. Sow the allium seeds on the soil, then cover with about 1-2 cm of soil, water thoroughly, and they will germinate in about 14 days.

2. Land preparation and fertilization: The soil needs to be deeply plowed frequently to enhance its drainage capacity. For fields where alliums are transplanted, flat land, loose soil and convenient watering should be selected. Apply 2,000 kg of organic fertilizer and 50-70 kg of triple compound fertilizer per mu of land.

Key points for managing allium

1. Planting treatment: Before planting, the allium seedlings should be screened to remove those with diseases and insect pests and weak constitutions. After screening, cut off the upper part of the root hairs, leaving 2-3 cm to promote the development of new roots, and transplant them with a row spacing of 20 cm and a plant spacing of 10 cm.

2. Field management: The roots of allium sibiricum are shallowly distributed and have a weak ability to absorb nutrients, so it needs to be watered in small amounts and multiple times, and attention should be paid to removing stagnant water.
