With just a little cutting, one pot of Clivia in her garden can become ten pots!

Division of Clivia

If you want to turn one pot of Clivia into multiple pots, the easiest way is to divide it!

Steps:

1. After the Clivia has grown for a few years, it will produce small cubs next to the mother plant. When the leaves of the small Clivia grow to 3-4 pieces, it can be divided.

2. Before dividing Clivia, you must do the preparation work. We need to prepare sterilized knives, loose and breathable nutrient soil, and carbendazim for sterilization and disinfection.

3. Remove the Clivia from the pot and clean all the soil on the roots.

4. Soak the roots of Clivia in carbendazim solution or potassium permanganate solution, take them out after soaking for about 1 hour, and then place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry the roots.

5. After the roots are dry, use a sterilized knife to cut off the roots with small buds from the mother plant of Clivia. Be careful to make sure the small buds have more roots so that they are easier to survive.

6. Apply carbendazim powder to the wound, then place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry the roots, and then you can put it back in the pot.

7. Put the divided Clivia back into the pot. The soil must be loose and breathable. It can be made by mixing nutrient soil and sand in a ratio of 5:1 and adding a little pine needles.

8. After re-potting, place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for about 2-3 weeks. This way, one pot of Clivia can be turned into at least two pots of Clivia!

Clivia sowing

If some flower lovers do not want to divide the Clivia at home, they can also plant them directly using the ripe fruits of Clivia!

Sowing steps:

1. First, peel the Clivia fruit and take out all the seeds.

2. Then soak the seeds in warm water at about 40℃ to germinate. After about 24 hours, the seeds will germinate.

3. The soil needed for sowing Clivia seeds must be loose and breathable. Sandy soil, pine needles, sawdust, etc. are all acceptable. Huahua uses sawdust here.

4. Place the seeds evenly in the sawdust, making sure the eyes are on the side. Keep the seeds in a dark environment at room temperature above 20°C and spray water on them with a spray bottle every day.

Bud eye on the side:

5. As long as the conditions and moisture are appropriate, we will find that the seeds of Clivia have germinated in about 20 days.

6. Take out the sprouted Clivia seeds from the sawdust and clean the sawdust on them.

7. Transplant the sprouted Clivia seeds into a flowerpot. Be sure to choose loose and breathable nutrient soil. Then place it in a cool and ventilated place for a period of time, and then move it to a place with sufficient scattered light.

8. As long as you take good care of the Clivia, you will soon have a large pot of Clivia seedlings! Don’t you think it’s very simple?
