Requirements for soil preparationThe preparation requirements of the substrate soil vary depending on the plants being cultivated. The substrate soil is divided into inorganic substrate and organic substrate. When preparing the substrate soil, you can mix granular soil, leaf mold and ordinary garden soil. If you are growing drought-tolerant plants, you can mix ordinary garden soil with river sand, or mix peat soil, perlite and a small amount of vermiculite. If you are growing succulents, you can add an appropriate amount of granular soil. How to prepare the substrate soil1. The most commonly used matrix soil formula is: drought-tolerant plants are prepared in the ratio of 1 part peat, 1 part perlite, 1 part horticultural vermiculite, or 7 parts peat to 3 parts vermiculite, and moisture-loving plants are prepared in the ratio of 5 parts peat, 2.5 parts horticultural vermiculite and 2.5 parts perlite. The above proportions are measured by volume. The commonly used matrix soil for homemade rural areas is generally prepared with decomposed chicken manure, decomposed cow dung, and fine soil in a ratio of 1:1:1. 2. The self-prepared substrate soil contains a large amount of insect eggs, pathogens and bacteria, etc. Direct use will cause damage to the plants, so it must be disinfected first. After preparing the substrate soil, it needs to be exposed to strong light for disinfection, or disinfected with high temperature method before planting. Matters needing attention in preparation of matrix soilIt is not advisable to use leftovers when preparing organic substrates, as they contain too much oil and salt, which will cause the soil to have high salt content, making the oil difficult to decompose and destroying the soil permeability. Kitchen waste must be fermented thoroughly when used as fertilizer. The prepared substrate soil can be sprayed with pesticides and sterilizers when drying the soil to prevent insects from affecting plant growth. |
