Pumpkin seeds have a certain dormancy period before germination, and pumpkin seeds also have a layer of protective tissue. These factors will prevent the germination of pumpkin seeds. If you want the pumpkin seeds to germinate, you need to germinate them. Soaking in water is the fastest way to germinate.

Pumpkin seed germination time

The seeds can be processed within a week before planting pumpkin. First, the pumpkin seeds need to be soaked. The pumpkin seeds will germinate after soaking for about 3 hours. When soaking, the pumpkin seeds need to be soaked in 55°C warm water, and then put them in wet cloth for germination. At this time, the best temperature is 25-30°C, and the seeds will germinate in about 2 days.

Pumpkin Seed Germination Technology

1. Body temperature germination method

Wrap an appropriate amount of pumpkin seeds with wet gauze, then put them in a plastic bag and tie the bag. Then put them on the outside of the innermost layer of clothes close to the body and tie them with a rope or belt. Take them out every day, rinse them in warm water at 30℃ 1-2 times and then put them back. This will utilize the heat from the human body to achieve the effect of germination.

2. Thermos germination method

Use 1-2 heat-resistant glass bottles or mineral water bottles, fill the bottles with hot water at about 80℃, then pack the soaked seeds and put them in a plastic bag, then place them 20-25 cm away from the thermos and wrap them with a quilt. Change the hot water once in the morning and evening every day, unpack the package to let the seeds ventilate, and then continue to germinate.

3. Constant temperature box germination method

First put wet gauze or a wet towel on the plate, then spread the pumpkin seeds flat on the gauze, then cover with 1-3 layers of wet gauze, and finally put the plate in a constant temperature box at 28-30℃. It will start to sprout in about 24 hours, and generally all the seeds will be ready in 2-3 days.
