The sowing period of potatoes is generally in spring. Generally, seeds need to be refrigerated and stored. However, the refrigeration temperature is low. Under long-term low temperature conditions, the physiological activity of potato seeds weakens and they are in a dormant state. If they are sown immediately afterwards, the potato seedlings will be slow and uneven. In order to break dormancy and shorten the germination time, seed potatoes need to be germinated, which can ensure the germination time of potatoes. Potato germination timeThe time for germination and planting of potatoes varies from region to region. The Northeast region generally plants them between April and May after entering spring, Shandong Province and its neighboring provinces mostly plant them between February and March, and the temperature in the south is higher, so most people choose to plant these plants between January and February. Preparations for germination should be started about ten days before the time chosen to plant potatoes. It should not be done too early, so as to avoid the buds growing too vigorously and affecting the subsequent growth of the plants. Potato germination technology1. Warm seeds and germinate First, choose a relatively warm indoor place or rainproof greenhouse. Spread a layer of relatively moist sand or loose and breathable fine soil on the ground. Sprinkle the seeds evenly on it, then cover it with a layer of sifted sand or fine soil, and then spray the soil surface with a spray bottle. If the temperature is too low, cover the seeds with a layer of straw, wheat straw or straw mats to keep them warm. After the sprouts grow out, remove all the coverings on the seeds. Then cool the seed potatoes appropriately or move them to a lower temperature, and gradually expose them to scattered light to strengthen the sprouts. After one month, when the sprouts grow well, they can be sown. 2. Germination with chemicals To accelerate the germination of potatoes, soak the seed potatoes in a concentrated solution of gibberellin for a quarter of an hour. After the soaking is completed, take them out and place them in a cool and rain-proof place, pile them into a small pile, cover the pile with some moist sand and cover it with a straw mat to keep it warm, and check again after ten days. After the sprouts have grown to 2 cm, the seedlings should be hardened off. If the sprouts are less than 1 cm, they should continue to be piled up for five days. The seed potatoes can only be selected for hardening when the sprouts grow to more than 2 cm until the germination is completed. |
