Can chrysanthemums be exposed to rain? Can potted chrysanthemums be exposed to rain outdoors?

Whether chrysanthemums are afraid of water depends on the amount of watering and rain. They prefer a humid environment during their growth, but not watering for a long time will cause the soil to be too dry, which will lead to poor growth of chrysanthemums.

However, during the period when chrysanthemums grow more vigorously, although they also need a certain amount of water, they cannot tolerate an environment that is too humid, so you must control the amount of water when watering, just water it thoroughly, and if you water too much, drain it as soon as possible.

Chrysanthemums in the rain

Chrysanthemums are not suitable for rain. Although chrysanthemums like water during maintenance, this plant is not very tolerant of moisture, so it is afraid of being rained on, especially during the flowering period, otherwise the flower buds will fall off in a large area, affecting its ornamental value.

During the normal growth period of chrysanthemums, if there is heavy rain for several consecutive days, the accumulated water will easily cause the roots of the chrysanthemums to be too moist, resulting in root rot, and in severe cases, it will cause its death.

But if it is just a short period of drizzle, you just need to loosen the soil, let it breathe, and drain the water from the bottom. There are usually drainage holes at the bottom of the flower pots, so the impact on the plants will be smaller.

Just planted chrysanthemums in the rain

Newly planted chrysanthemums cannot be exposed to rain, because they are relatively fragile when they are just planted, and they cannot be exposed to continuous rain. Although chrysanthemums have a relatively large demand for water during their growth, continuous rain will cause water accumulation in newly planted chrysanthemums, which can easily damage the root system, causing the entire plant to breed bacteria, yellow leaves, and fall leaves, and finally causing the plant to be unable to grow normally.
