How to plant cyclamen bulbs? Planting methods and germination tips

After the cyclamen flowers wither, the focus should be on the bulbs, which can allow them to continue to bloom beautiful and colorful flowers in winter, which is majestic and auspicious.

Cyclamen bulb planting

1. Prepare potting soil

Cyclamen has high requirements for potting soil. Before planting, you need to prepare a breathable, loose, humus-rich soil, and then prepare a slightly larger suitable flower pot. You can use leaf mold, furnace ash, decomposed cake fertilizer, and river sand to mix the soil. After the soil is disinfected, put it into the flower pot. There are not many requirements for the flower pot, but it is best to choose a flower pot with good air permeability.

2. Processing the bulbs

Cyclamen must be healthy and free of pests and diseases during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The upper part of the rhizome withers, the old roots are cut off, and the strong roots are left. After pruning, a fungicide needs to be applied to the wound to prevent bacteria from invading. The processed balls need to be set aside to air dry for 2 days before they can be planted.

3. Planting in the soil

After the cyclamen bulbs are processed and the pot soil is prepared, they can be planted in pots. Bury the rhizomes in the soil, and control the depth of the rhizomes, about 2/3 of the depth.

The rest is left in the soil, which can promote better germination of the bulbs. Do not water immediately after planting, keep the soil dry to prevent the bulbs from rotting.

4. Post-maintenance

Water the cyclamen bulbs a week after planting. Water should be slowly seeped along the pot soil. Do not water thoroughly. The soil should be half dry. It likes a warm environment and it is best to control the temperature at around 20℃.

In addition, ventilation is required, and the environment of the bulbs is suitable for resuming growth as soon as possible. After germination, thin fertilizers are applied frequently, and appropriate topdressing is applied to promote stronger growth.

Care of Cyclamen bulbs after planting

1. Lighting

You can move the cyclamen to a semi-shaded and ventilated environment and provide it with sufficient warm light so that the plant can convert more organic matter through photosynthesis. However, don't expose the cyclamen directly to the sun, otherwise the strong light will only make the whole plant lose its vitality.

2. Watering

After the cyclamen has finished flowering, do not water it more. You must do a good job of water control. As long as the soil is not particularly dry, do not water it. In particular, do not allow water to accumulate in the soil. Stop watering after the branches and leaves have completely withered.

3. Nutrients

The growing period of cyclamen after flowering is relatively short. During this month, you can apply a multi-element compound fertilizer once to increase the nutrient content in the soil, but the fertility should not be too great and the concentration should not be too high to avoid fertilizer damage.
