How to prune Star Beauty? When and how to prune

Star Beauty Trimming Time

The time for pruning star beauty is usually in spring. In this season, the growth rate of star beauty is faster, so the recovery speed will be fast, and the rooting speed at the top will be faster than in other seasons. Of course, if it is grown indoors, it can be pruned all year round if the temperature is suitable.

Star Beauty Pruning Methods and Steps

1. Topping

Pinching the star beauty means cutting off the top of the stem and the upper part of the leaves. Proper pinching can reduce excessive consumption of nutrients, allow the plant to have more branches, and make the plant's appearance shorter and more compact.

2. Shorten

Shortening is also called strong pruning. If the Star Beauty grows too tall, you can cut it off 10-20 cm away from the bottom of the trunk. This will allow more new branches to sprout from the bottom or roots of the trunk, making the plant fuller and more beautiful.

3. Thinning branches

For branches that grow too densely and cross each other, you need to focus on pruning them to allow the Star Beauty to breathe more and avoid diseases and pests. Overgrown branches, diseased branches and old branches should also be pruned in time.

4. Root pruning

The roots of Star Beauty can be pruned when repotting or transplanting. Roots that are too long, too dense, or rotten need to be pruned in time. After pruning, some fungicide can be applied. In addition, old roots can also be slightly pruned.

Precautions for pruning Star Beauty

After pruning the Star Beauty, you need to control the watering. Before the root system is fully grown, not only should you not water it, but you should also not be exposed to too much light. Place it in a cool and ventilated place to wait for its roots to grow and then maintain it normally. After it takes root and resumes growing, you need to replenish nutrients in time. Use fermented cake fertilizer combined with bone meal, and apply fertilizer once every half a month in combination with watering.
