When does African jasmine bloom?

When does it bloom?

I can tell you for sure that African jasmine can bloom. The flowering period is from May to June, the flowers are terminal, and the corolla is white or yellowish-white. The inflorescence is erect and terminal, with 1 to 3 flowers and a very short peduncle. The corolla is white, funnel-shaped, fragrant, and 5-lobed at the upper part. The entire corolla is shaped like a small trumpet. But its flowering period is relatively long, ranging from 5 years to more than ten years. It is difficult for ordinary flower lovers to wait until the moment of flowering.

How to make it bloom

African jasmine requires sufficient phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during its growth period, but people tend to focus on nitrogen fertilizers when applying fertilizer. Indeed, nitrogen fertilizer can grow leaves and ensure that the leaves are bright green, but it also hinders the differentiation of flower buds. To this end, during the growing season, especially during the bud formation period, less nitrogen fertilizer and more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied. In addition to using rotten bone meal and poultry manure as base fertilizer, you can also use rotten bones, poultry manure extract or quick-acting phosphorus and potassium fertilizers as topdressing.

African jasmine is a light-loving plant. The balcony in the home cannot receive sunlight all day long. The plant will be shaded for a long time, resulting in large and sparse leaves, which to a certain extent prolongs the flowering period. Therefore, if you want it to bloom, you should move the plant to the sun as much as possible. If you live in a building and it is inconvenient to operate and you are afraid of exposure to the sun, you can move it outdoors every weekend to receive 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight. If you have been growing African jasmine for 3 or 4 years, increase the light and it may bloom in the 5th year.
