Cultivation methods and precautions of Caladium

Cultivation methods and precautions of Caladium

1. Soil

When breeding, you need to use loose soil with good water retention capacity. It should not be alkaline or too poor, otherwise it will affect its growth. You can prepare it yourself with garden soil, humus soil and river sand. It is best to add an appropriate amount of bone meal as base fertilizer to ensure sufficient nutrients.

2. Temperature

It likes warmth, and the more suitable temperature is between 25 and 30 degrees. It has poor cold resistance and is easily damaged by frost when the temperature drops below 15 degrees, causing the leaves to become soft and wilted. Therefore, in winter, you need to keep warm and control the temperature, and you can also put on plastic bags to maintain the temperature.

3. Lighting

It likes light, but it needs to be shielded from strong light and should be placed in a place with good diffuse light. If the leaves are not exposed to light for a long time or are exposed to strong light, they will lose their luster and affect their appearance.

4. Watering

It is not drought-tolerant and needs to be kept moist during maintenance. If dryness is found, water should be added in time and more water should be sprinkled. However, be careful not to sprinkle water on the leaves, otherwise there will be spots. When the temperature drops, pay attention to water control.

5. Notes

If you want it to grow more vigorously, in addition to the method, you must also pay attention to pruning. Cut off the old leaves, yellow leaves and overly dense branches in time so that new branches can grow. In addition, when repotting, you should also pay attention to pruning the roots. Cutting off old and rotten roots will be more conducive to growth.
