How to water the Christmas cactus during its flowering period

How to water the Christmas cactus during its flowering period

1. Watering frequency

During the flowering period, the number of waterings should be controlled and not too frequent. Normally, it is enough to water the plant every three days or so. If the environment is cold, the watering time can be extended to once a week. In addition, each time you water, you must water thoroughly so that the soil is completely moist, and the soil and roots at the bottom must also see moisture.

2. Watering in different seasons

Its flowering period is relatively long, mainly concentrated in spring, and some varieties also bloom in summer. How to water the plants also depends on the season in which the flowers bloom. If it blooms in spring and the air is humid, it is usually sufficient to water it once every 5 days. If it blooms in summer, it will consume a lot of water, so you need to water it frequently and water it every day.

3. Watering time

In addition to paying attention to the frequency of watering, you should also pay attention to the time of watering. The best time to replenish water during the flowering period is in the morning before the sun comes out or in the evening after the sun sets, when the temperature is more suitable and water loss is slower. However, if you want to replenish water in spring, it is best to do it at noon, so that the flowers can bloom more vigorously.

4. Combination of water and fertilizer

A lot of nutrients are consumed during the flowering period, so watering can be combined with fertilization at the same time. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used as fertilizer, and the amount does not need to be too much. Apply it once every half a month and water it thoroughly in time after fertilizing. This can prolong the flowering period.
