How and when to plant daffodils: the best time to plant bulbs

The best time to plant daffodils

It is best to plant daffodils in autumn and winter because they grow best in a slightly cooler climate. The specific time depends on the planting area. They will bloom from February to April after planting. Do not plant them in summer, otherwise they will easily rot.

Narcissus planting methods and key points

1. Bulb processing

Narcissus bulbs need to be processed before planting. Peel off the outer brown aging skin and trim the dry roots, leaving some healthy roots. Then soak them in a diluted disinfectant solution for a while and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry naturally before planting.

2. Put it in the basin

The size of the container should be chosen according to the size of the bulbs. Use the cluster planting method, plant 3-5 bulbs in each pot, pour soil into the container, then put the bulbs in, cover the bulbs completely with soil, and cover them with a layer of fine soil about 2 cm thick.

Key points for managing daffodils

1. Watering

After planting daffodils, they must be watered once. At this time, the water must be poured thoroughly. On normal days, the principle of watering when the soil is dry and wetting when the soil is wet should be followed. Do not water too much at one time, otherwise the bulbs will rot and die directly.

2. Pay special attention

After planting daffodils, place the flower pot in a semi-shaded and ventilated place with diffuse light to facilitate its rooting and germination. When the buds emerge from the soil surface, move them to a place with full light for maintenance.
