How to grow violets in water

How to grow violets in water

1. Clean the plants

Select healthy plants for potting. Water generously, then wait two to three days before removing the plant from the pot. Then slowly remove the soil from the roots and rinse with water. After washing off most of the soil, the roots should be pruned to remove old and rotten roots.

2. Choose a container

Glass bottles are generally used as containers for hydroponics. It should not be too high to avoid poor ventilation, which will cause the plants to have difficulty breathing. Pour clean water into the bottle and insert the violet into the water. Two-thirds of the roots should be immersed in the water, and the one-third above the water is for breathing. In addition, it is best to use river water or spring water. If not, you can use mineral water. Tap water needs to be left to stand for two days before use.

3. Daily maintenance

Daily maintenance mainly involves changing water and adding nutrient solution. Water should generally be changed once a week, but should be adjusted according to the season. When changing the water, add nutrient solution according to the recommended ratio of the nutrient solution. Excessive addition will affect the health of the plant.

IV. Precautions

1. Seasonal change: During the high temperatures in summer, water is prone to deterioration and evaporation. Water can be added every morning. At the same time, water changes should be more frequent, generally once every two days. In addition, it is not advisable to expose water-grown violets to the sun. Not only is it bad for the leaves, it will also increase the water temperature and cause great damage to the roots. In winter, since the plant is in a dormant period, the time for changing water can be extended.

2. Disease prevention and control: Generally, violets grown in water will not be affected by insect pests, but they may be infected with diseases. For diseased plants, the water should be changed in time and the appropriate medicine should be used according to the symptoms of the disease.
