What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree droop

What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree droop

The leaves droop because of water loss.

Overwatering causes root rot

The main reason why the leaves of the money tree droop is water loss, which mainly includes excessive watering leading to root rot and then leaf drooping. When watering the money tree, there is a very important point, that is, the soil cannot accumulate water. Basically, when watering the money tree, water it thoroughly, but water accumulation is strictly prohibited. If the soil is watered for a long time and is too moist, it will cause root rot and the plant will not be able to absorb water, which will easily cause the leaves to droop.

The rotten roots of the money tree can be treated by disinfecting it with disinfectants such as Benomyl, replacing it with new soil and replanting it. After that, you must pay attention to watering to prevent root rot again.

Soil compaction

There is another situation that can cause the money tree to lose water, and that is soil compaction. Because soil compaction will reduce the water penetration capacity, water cannot be absorbed by the roots, causing the leaves to lose water and droop. Therefore, when choosing soil, it is best to choose loose and breathable soil, and loosen the soil appropriately during the cultivation of the money tree to allow its roots to grow normally and have good water permeability and drainage capabilities.

Little light

When growing a money tree, it is necessary to maintain appropriate light. If it is exposed to too little light, its branches and leaves will grow weak, the leaves will become larger, and will droop. This phenomenon mainly requires pruning, cutting off a section of branches that are too long, keeping the main trunk at 30cm, and then maintaining sufficient light, but avoid direct sunlight. If possible, you can apply a little special fertilizer.

Just changed the pot

Generally, this phenomenon of leaf drooping is likely to occur when the money tree has just been repotted, because the plant has not yet fully recovered and needs a period of acclimatization before it can grow back to normal. Of course, it is also possible that the roots were damaged when repotting.

Only by finding out the correct reason why the leaves of the money tree are drooping can we prescribe the right remedy and bring it back to life.
