Astragalus growth environment conditions and requirements

Astragalus is mainly distributed in Russia and China, and is often found in low-altitude forest edges, shrubs, sparse woods, and grasslands. It prefers a cool, humid, well-lit growing environment, and mostly grows in mid-temperate and warm temperate zones.

Astragalus growth temperature

The optimum growth temperature of Astragalus is around 20℃, and it can only be sown when the temperature is above 8℃. However, the plant is not cold-resistant, and its growth will be affected when the temperature is below 10℃.

Astragalus growth humidity

Astragalus has high requirements for water, and the relative humidity of the air must be above 80%. The plant likes water but is afraid of water. When watering, you must follow the principle of alternating dry and wet seasons. You can water it frequently during the seedling stage.

Astragalus growing soil

Astragalus prefers deep, loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil. The soil pH value should be between 6.5 and 7.5. Before planting, the soil should be deeply plowed and base fertilizer should be applied.

Astragalus Growth Cycle and Process

It takes 1-2 years for the Astragalus plant to grow from sowing to maturity. Its growth goes through several stages including the seedling stage, greening stage, bud formation and flowering stage, and fruiting stage. The whole growth period is about 220 days, and the fruiting period lasts about 30 days.
