Diseases and their control on delphinium

powdery mildew

Powdery mildew is a common disease of delphinium, which can harm the leaves and stems of the plant. Generally, when delphinium is infected with powdery mildew, lesions will appear on the plant, with white powdery mildew spots growing on it. If the disease is serious, the branches and leaves will curl, and the mildew spots will turn black, inhibiting the growth of the plant.

Generally, powdery mildew of delphinium is caused by fungi. The fungi will germinate and produce spores after overwintering. The spores can be spread by wind and rain, and harm the delphinium plants. Generally, powdery mildew is more likely to occur in cooler seasons. Reducing the source of infection is the best method of prevention and control. After the flowers have faded, the diseased plants can be burned in batches. During the breeding process, attention should be paid to moisture-proofing, timely drainage during the rainy season, and ventilation and light transmission should be maintained. When the disease occurs, you can spray 1000 times diluted 50% benomyl wettable powder or 800 times diluted 15% oxycarboxin wettable powder for treatment.

Root rot

Root rot is a very harmful disease of delphinium, which often has devastating consequences. The invasion of pathogens causes the plants to wilt or even die. It can be controlled by spraying 500 times diluted 30% thiophanate wettable powder.

Black spot disease of delphinium

Black spot disease is also a major disease that harms delphiniums. It can harm the leaves, stems and flowers of delphiniums. Generally, the leaves at the bottom of the plant will become ill first, with irregular black spots appearing. Black spot disease is generally spread through rain and is more likely to occur in rainy seasons when the soil is also very moist.

Once the disease is discovered, the diseased leaves need to be removed and destroyed in time. You can also use 1000 times diluted streptomycin for spraying treatment.

Delphinium pests and their control

The main pests of delphinium are aphids and armyworms, which are two common pests of delphinium. If delphinium is infested with these pests, you can spray them in time with 2000 times diluted 10% insecticide emulsion.
