Disease and Pest Control of Yellow Chanlan Orchid

Disease and Pest Control of Yellow Chanlan Orchid

Diseases

There are two main common diseases of this plant. The first is white rot. It is particularly common during the rainy season, and appears mainly on the roots and stems. When a plant is first infected with this disease, some white filaments will appear on its leaves. If the disease continues to develop, the roots and stems of the plant will slowly rot. The specific prevention and control method is: first clean the soil contaminated by bacteria at the roots of the plants, and then sprinkle some lime. At the same time, remember to give the plants proper ventilation, let them see the sun, and ensure the drainage of the plants.

The second disease is called "anthrax". This disease is probably the one we are most familiar with. It can occur throughout the year, but the chances of it happening are greater if it rains more. In the early stage of the disease, some brown spots will appear on the tips of the leaves. If the disease worsens, the spots will gradually increase in number and size, move closer to the stem, and become darker in color, approaching black. If this continues, the plants may die. To treat this disease, we first need to spray the medicine once every week or ten days. In addition, we should also actively adjust the environmental factors around the plants to make the plants more comfortable.

Pests

There is a common insect pest of this plant called "scale insect". If the plant is in an environment with very high temperature, very high humidity and no ventilation for a long time, this pest may appear. To deal with this kind of insect, we can use omethoate to kill them. If there aren't a lot of them, you can just remove them.
