Why doesn't hyacinth grow tall?

Why doesn't hyacinth grow tall?

1. Reasons

1. Improper cold treatment

This may be the main reason for this phenomenon.

Because it is native to the Netherlands, where the temperature in winter is above zero degrees, and the transition time between winter and spring and spring and summer is long, it gives it enough time to recover and sprout after just blooming. Compared with the Netherlands, the transition time from winter to spring and from spring to summer in my country is relatively short. This results in not having enough time for the differentiation of flower clusters in my country, and the flowers that grow may not grow tall.

Therefore, before planting, we usually artificially simulate the Dutch environment and give it cold treatment to help it better adapt to the Chinese environment. If you forget to perform the cold treatment or the time or temperature of the cold treatment is inappropriate, it may cause the plant to not grow tall.

2. The temperature is too low during flowering

It is best to keep it at a temperature above 17℃ for it to bloom. If the temperature is not reached, the flower stem will not be able to extend normally, which will cause it to not grow tall.

3. Peel off old skin frequently

The old bark of hyacinth is very "dirty", but the new bark inside the old bark is white and clean. Some flower lovers will peel off the old bark to make it look better. But after the old skin is peeled off, its new skin will gradually become old and will be peeled off again.

In fact, its nutrients are stored in the bulb. Peeling off the old skin layer by layer will cause the loss of internal nutrients. Without nutrients, it naturally will not grow tall.

II. Measures

1. We can provide it with better growth conditions according to the specific situation to help its stems elongate.

2. We can move it to a shaded room without sunlight to encourage its flower stems to elongate. However, this method is not suitable for situations where the flowers have already bloomed.

3. We can use some drugs to promote the elongation of its stem.

3. Notes

1. The bulbs you buy must be cold-treated in winter to ensure that they will bloom well next year.

2. If you do not have the conditions, you can directly purchase the bulbs processed by the merchant in spring.

3. Don’t peel its skin at ordinary times.
