What to do if lucky bamboo leaves are frostbitten

1. Pruning

The frostbite mentioned here is not freezing, but being in a low temperature environment for a long time, which causes the leaves, stems, etc. to turn yellow and lack vitality.

Cut off the frostbitten parts, such as leaves, stems, etc. It is easy to see the yellow leaves on the branches after freezing, so just cut them off with scissors. If the damage is too severe and the roots are all rotten or dead, don't force it. You can give up and plant a new pot.

2. Change water and wash roots

This step is easy to understand. After being frostbitten, the roots will have slight rot. Take it out and gently rinse the roots with water to protect the integrity of the root system. Leave the areas without problems alone and cut off the rotten areas with scissors. Pour new clean water into the bottle and insert the trimmed lucky bamboo into it.

3. Place the medicine

Placing an aspirin tablet in the water can help the root cuts heal faster and prevent further rot.

4. Maintenance

The next thing to do is to move the plant to a bright place. Don’t place it outdoors, as lucky bamboo cannot withstand the cold wind. It is best to place it near an indoor window where the temperature is relatively high and there is light. Do not place it in places such as air conditioners or TVs because of the high temperatures. Let it grow slowly on its own to see if it can survive.

After the plant survives and grows new roots, you can add a small amount of compound fertilizer to provide nutrients for its re-development.
