Are there two kinds of forget-me-not?

Forget-me-not is not only a

Forget-me-not, a beautiful and romantic flower, but I actually have some questions about it. I remember when I went to buy forget-me-not tea, the flowers I saw were not the same as in the picture. What was going on? I believe some people who like forget-me-nots also have such questions.

From the legend of forget-me-not we know that a knight and his lover were walking by the river and saw the blooming blue flowers. So the knight risked his life to pick the flowers, but accidentally fell into the water. Knowing that he could not be rescued, the knight threw the flowers to his lover and told her: Don't forget me. Later, lovers wore blue flowers in their hair day and night to express their loyalty to their loved ones and their undying love. Therefore, this flower is called forget-me-not and is regarded by everyone as a beautiful flower that carries loyal love.

From the legend, we can see that the forget-me-not it describes is a beautiful little blue flower. However, on the market, many fresh cut flowers, dried flowers and even forget-me-nots used as scented tea are not as described, and the differences are huge. Could it be that forget-me-not is more than just one kind?

There are two types of forget-me-not

In fact, the forget-me-nots we know refer to two plants.

One is the forget-me-not plant of the Boraginaceae family. It has beautiful blue flowers with a circle of yellow stamens in the center. The whole flower looks colorful and very delicate.

Another type is a plant of the genus Limonium in the family Cynanchum. It has small flowers and a long flowering period. It is a very important matching flower and has good medicinal value. In fact, this flower is commonly known as forget-me-not, but it is actually blood-replenishing grass. Selling it as forget-me-not in the market is actually a misunderstanding.

However, in life, the forget-me-nots we often see are actually this kind of blood-replenishing grass. Now you know. Okay, everyone has a new understanding of forget-me-nots. This is all the little knowledge I will share with you about forget-me-nots.
