Flowering period and maintenance methods of Western azalea

1. When to bloom

The earlier varieties of this flower bloom in October, followed by around the New Year. The flowering period can last up to half a year, generally until April or May of the following year. The colder the environment, the more colorful the flowers become. You need to add fertilizer and water before the flowers bloom, but no need after they bloom.

2. Maintenance methods

Maintenance before and after flowering is the key to making the flowers bloom longer, more beautiful and more beautiful in shape.

1. Starting from March, add a thin fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and nitrogen as a supplement, one or two times, each time with an interval of fifteen days, which can help the flowers become fuller. In order to allow it to have more space and nutrients to be used in the most critical areas, all flower buds except those at the top of the branches should be removed. After the flowers wither, you should add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers twice. This can help the green plants grow stronger, make it look more beautiful, and help the flower buds grow.

2. When it blooms, place the pot in a ventilated area, expose it to the sun in the morning and evening, and place it in the room at night. If there is no water in the pot, add water in time. Do not sprinkle water on the flowers, and do not add fertilizer during the flowering period. Don't let it get directly exposed to the sun; a cool environment can help it prolong its flowering period.

3. Its roots are very thin and thin. It is afraid of too much water and cannot resist drought. Improper watering will be detrimental to its growth. The amount of water should be determined according to the season and its growth stage. It is colder in winter, so it stops growing temporarily and needs less water. You should let the pot dry out, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow, and in severe cases, it will die. If the winter is not cold, you can add water with a temperature close to the environment every three to five days. March and May are the growing period, so you need to add more water and also sprinkle water on the leaves and surrounding areas. As the weather gets colder in late autumn, the amount of water should also decrease. When adding fertilizer, use decomposed fertilizer, not raw fertilizer.
