How long is the wax apple fruit period? Fruit maintenance and management methods

How long does the wax apple fruit season last?

The fruiting period of wax apple is generally from December to April of the following year. The growth rate of wax apple is very fast, and it usually bears fruit in the second year of planting. However, the amount of fruit will be smaller at the beginning. The longer the cultivation time, the greater the number of fruits will be. If it is cultivated for 10 years, 300-400 kilograms of fruit can be picked a year. The fruit expansion period of wax apple is generally from April to May.

Wax apple ripening time

The fruit of wax apple usually matures in May and June, but depending on the planting location, the ripening time may be advanced or delayed due to the influence of temperature.

Maintenance and management of wax apple during fruiting period

1. Pruning: Wax apples need to be pruned during the fruiting period. Select 3-4 strong main branches with large angles 50 cm from the ground, and prune the rest. Remember not to prune during the flowering period from June to July or August to September. The branches should be thinned out after harvesting the fruits every year.

2. Flowering induction: In order to meet the huge market demand, the city needs to artificially induce flowering of wax apples, which can help it switch from vegetative growth to reproductive growth and adjust the production period to December to April of the following year.

3. Thinning flowers and fruits and bagging: Wax apples bloom and bear many fruits. In order to save nutrients and improve fruit quality, wax apples need to be thinned during the fruiting period. Generally, 60% to 70% of the fruits need to be picked, and the tops of the branches and the upward flower spikes need to be removed. After the fruits fall physiologically, they can be bagged to prevent early infection of diseases.

4. Fertilization : Wax apple grows relatively fast and has a large demand for fertilizer. 1-4 year old trees are generally given quick-acting fertilizers, with more nitrogen and potassium fertilizers applied during the growth period, and organic fertilizers applied before fruiting. The wax apple fruits produced in this way are sweet and delicious, with good quality.

5. Spraying : During the wax apple fruiting period, you can spray "Yunda-Whole Tree Fruit" 2000 times to reduce the shedding of the wax apple fruit stalk, while making the fruit stalk strong and elongated, making the wax apple grow evenly and increasing the sugar content of the fruit.
