How to grow potted carnations better (how to grow carnations bought at home)

Carnation is the flower of mother. It is a variant of Dianthus, but it also belongs to Dianthus. It is very easy to maintain, cold-resistant and drought-resistant, and has a very strong flowering performance. If properly maintained, it is possible to bloom in all seasons.

The carnations we bought all came with simple small pots, so we had to change the pots in time, to a bigger one.

Just let it grow and bloom quickly. Repotting will damage the roots and the flowers will wilt and dry up. This is normal. Just let the seedlings grow properly. So, how do families grow potted carnations?

How to grow potted carnations at home

①Change the pot

The pots we bought are simple ones, which are not very big. If you want to change the pot, just try to use one size larger than the original one.

Don't use tall pots for carnations. A shallow pot is most suitable, as it is not easy for the roots to accumulate and rot. When we repot it, take it out of the pot and check the roots around it.

If the roots fill the pot, we can use our hands to loosen the roots at the bottom and around the pot before planting.

Because carnations are herbaceous plants, digging up the roots will not cause serious damage. This will help the roots to quickly combine with the new soil.

②Prepare potting soil

When preparing the soil, you must choose soil with good air permeability. It is recommended that you use nutrient soil with good air permeability and add more perlite, and there will be no problem.

Just water it thoroughly after planting. Don't forget to add some fungicide, such as carbendazim or mancozeb, and add some rooting liquid to promote its rapid root growth.

After watering it thoroughly, do not put it under the sun. The light is too strong, the root system will be damaged and severely consumed, and dry leaves and flower buds will inevitably appear. What we need to do is put it in a place with scattered light and good ventilation to accelerate the growth of the seedlings.

Ensure good ventilation and scattered light, and do not fertilize it. After about a week, we will find that it is growing and blooming normally.

Later, we will gradually increase the light exposure, and when we see it growing faster, we can add fertilizer.

③Daily maintenance points

Carnations are very, very easy to grow. Those planted in a small patch on the ground will grow completely in less than a year. They are very powerful and can produce hundreds or even thousands of flowers at a time.

If we raise it normally, we should put it in the place with the most light, water it thoroughly in time when the surface of the soil in the pot is dry, and apply fertilizer to it regularly and quantitatively.

Because it keeps growing and blooming, try to choose one with high phosphorus content and no lack of other elements, such as Huaduoduo No. 2. Feed it 2 to 3 times a month and there will basically be no problems if you keep it this way.

If you are a novice in flower-growing, you can choose carnations. They can easily bloom in the pots at home, and you can enjoy flowers all year round.

As long as the ambient temperature is not lower than 10 degrees, it will be fine. Of course, it will not die if the temperature is below zero degrees. The leaves will remain evergreen, but will stop growing.
