Difference Between Maple and Sycamore

1. Difference of blades

Maple leaves are opposite, papery, oblong-elliptical or long ovate, with a long acuminate tip, a broad cuneate base, slightly reflexed and serrated edges, dark green and glabrous on the upper side, and slightly lighter in color and covered with soft hairs on the back. In autumn it turns a fiery red and falls to the ground as a deep red. The leaves of the sycamore are larger, broadly ovate, with a truncated or broadly cordate base, broadly triangular lobes, and hairy on both the upper and lower surfaces, which will fall off and become hairless later. The color is green.

2. The difference between flowers

The maple tree has axillary racemes with stipules. The calyx is linear and triangular, with 5 petals in the shape of a spoon. The stamens and petals are opposite and yellow in color. The sycamore has a panicle inflorescence, unisexual flowers, no petals, linear-lanceolate lobes, and the flower color is lavender.
