Longan planting is divided into seasons. Longan is also known as limonene. The best growing period of longan in a year is from late February to mid-March or early October.

Common longan varieties include Shiyuan longan, Chuliang longan, Guangyan longan, Gushan No. 2 longan, Dawuyuan longan, etc. The cultivation time of different varieties of longan is mostly the same.

Longan harvest season

The maturity time of longan varies according to the region and variety. The maturity period of foreign longan is generally in summer. In my country, longan matures in autumn, and the maturity period varies slightly in different regions. When the planting conditions are good, the yield of longan per mu is generally around 400 kilograms.

Longan planting steps and methods

1. Land selection: close to water source, soil pH range of 5.5~6.5, loose soil, deep soil layer, and well-drained arable land;

2. Digging planting holes: First, dig planting holes with a length of 0.7~1.1m, a width of 0.7~1.1m, and a depth of 0.6~0.8m. Pile the excavated topsoil and subsoil separately. The topsoil is excavated from the ground at a depth of 15~25cm. Fully mix the topsoil with farmyard manure, calcium phosphate and plant ash, and fully mix the subsoil with river soil, field soil, and burnt soil. Then return the subsoil to the fixed value hole and the topsoil to the fixed value hole;

3. Seedling selection: longan seedlings with green leaves, 75-95cm in height and 1.5-4cm in diameter;

4. Root attachment treatment: Use root attachment treatment to treat the selected longan seedlings;

5. Transplantation: Plant the root-treated longan seedlings vertically in the center of the dug planting hole, compact the surrounding soil, and cover it with soil. The diameter of the soil pile after covering is 0.6~0.8m, and it is 0.277~0.85m above the ground.

6. Investigate the lack of seedling replenishment: 7 to 9 days after transplanting, observe the growth of longan seedlings, and replenish seedlings immediately if necessary;

7. Fertilization management: After half a month of transplantation, start topdressing. Use the cycle mode of agricultural fertilizer-chemical fertilizer-agricultural fertilizer. Apply agricultural fertilizer for the first time. Apply 4-6 kg of farmyard manure to each plant. After half a month, apply 0.5-0.8 kg of urea, 0.4-0.6 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 0.3-0.5 kg of potassium sulfate to each plant, with a mass concentration of 0.2%~0.25 barrels;

8. Shaping and pruning: After the longan seedlings are planted and survive, the plant height is 60-80cm, and each plant leaves 4-7 buds in different directions;

9. Application of foliar fertilizer: spray foliar fertilizer one week before flowering. The mass fraction of foliar fertilizer is potassium chlorate fertilizer solution is 1/1000~5/1000;

10. Flower spike protection: If the flower spike is not extracted, fertilization should be suspended. After the flower spike is extracted, 0.6-0.7kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 0.6-0.7kg of potassium fertilizer, and 0.8-0.9kg of phosphate fertilizer should be applied to each plant. When the spring buds are 4-5cm apart, spray 0.2-0.25% paclobutrazol;

11. Thinning flowers and fruits: Remove the flower spikes from all branches, except for 25% to 35% of the total flower spikes, remove the fruit from the weak branches when the diameter is 2 to 4 mm, remove the overcrowded small fruit spikes, weak fruits, thin fruits, diseased fruits and deformed fruits, and spray 900 to 1000 times of Yunda-Wanshuguo, spray once every 7 to 9 days, and spray 3 to 4 times

12. Introduce honey bee colonies to collect flowers for pollination;

13. Treatment of pests and diseases, birds: spray 800-1000 times of malathion in March, 800-1000 times of trichlorfon in April-May, 800-1000 times of acephate in June-July, and 1000-1100 times of acephate from the late flower drop to the young fruit stage, spray 3-4 times in total, once every 6-8 days;

14. Longan picking and post-harvest management: Longan fruits should be picked immediately after they are ripe. During the cultivation period, the cultivation site should be shallowly turned every other year and the soil should be improved with quicklime.
