How to grow and water orchids

How to grow and water orchids

Orchids , known for their perennial herbaceous characteristics, elegant plant shape and flowing leaves, are a popular choice for home flower cultivation. Orchids can also emit a light fragrance, enhancing the taste of your home. However, many flower lovers find that when caring for orchids, despite investing a lot of effort, the orchids are difficult to bloom. In fact, the key to making orchids bloom is to learn how to grow and water them.

1. Master the "key points" of orchid flowering

1. Reasonable water control

Orchids have the ability to bloom quickly when they sense a survival crisis. Therefore, properly controlling water and not making the orchid too comfortable can help stimulate its flowering. When watering, you should follow the principle of "water when dry and water when wet". Wait until the planting material about 3 cm below the surface of the potting soil is dry before watering thoroughly.

2. Lighting management

Orchids prefer semi-shady environments, but long-term exposure to scattered light is not conducive to flower bud differentiation. In spring, orchids should be exposed to more sunlight to speed up photosynthesis and promote the growth of flower arrows. In summer, 60%-70% shade is required. In spring and autumn, the shading ratio should be adjusted according to the temperature, and good ventilation should be ensured.

2. Orchid's "2 types of water" maintenance method

1. Cake fertilizer water

Cake fertilizer is a mild and long-lasting organic fertilizer rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Used during the growth period of orchids , it can promote root growth.

How to use: Break the cake fertilizer into pieces, put it into a plastic bucket, add water and insecticide or wood ash, seal it and let it compost for 2-3 months. When using, take the upper liquid and dilute it 80 times with water, and water it once every 10 days.

2. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution

Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers help plants to form buds and promote flowering. Before and after the orchid flowering period, the reasonable application of potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution can promote flowering.

Usage: Dilute potassium dihydrogen phosphate granules into a 1:1000ml aqueous solution and irrigate once every 10-15 days, or make a 0.1%-0.3% solution and spray it on the leaves once every 10 days. The best spraying time is around 10 am.

Through the above methods, orchids can not only bloom quickly, but also have a strong fragrance. I hope these maintenance tips can help flower lovers better enjoy the fun of growing orchids.
