How to store Ranunculus tuberosus

How to store Ranunculus tuberosus

When to dig up the roots of Ranunculus

Preparation

In fact, the tubers of Anemone have already taken shape before or after the differentiation of flower buds, but they start to grow and increase after flowering. After the flowers fade, remove the flower buds in time, water at the right time, and apply 1 to 2 times of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote the healthy growth of anemones, so that there are enough nutrients to loosen the underground tubers, promote their growth, and develop fully.

Pre-storage treatment methods

After collecting the tubers, clean the soil on the surface, cut off the dead stems and leaves above the ground, and remove diseased and damaged tubers. After treatment, rinse it with clean water and soak it in a carbendazim solution for 2 to 3 minutes to disinfect and sterilize it. Then take it out and place it in a cool place to dry.

Storage method

Ventilated dry storage method

Put the tubers of Anemone into a bamboo basket, a perforated cardboard box, or a ventilated container, cover it with a layer of waterproof paper (the thickness should not exceed 20 cm), and store it in a cool and dry place. Or you can place the tubers directly in a cloth bag, paper bag or woven bag, and hang them in a ventilated and dry place indoors for storage at room temperature.

Layered sand storage method

It's very simple, just bury the root tubers in fine sand. First, spread the disinfected fine sand into a 10-cm cushion layer, place the tubers on top, then cover with about 5 cm of dry fine sand, and then place the tubers, and continue stacking layer by layer to form a cone, so that the Anemone tubers are evenly buried in the fine sand for storage.

Potting soil storage method

When potted, the tubers can be kept in the original potting soil over the summer, but all the withered stems and leaves on the ground should be cut off, and then a layer of 0.3% potassium permanganate aqueous solution should be poured on. There is no need to water or fertilize, just keep the potting soil moderately dry. Place the flower pot in a ventilated, cool and rain-proof place until summer when you can dig out the tubers and replant them.
