For plants that like light, their appearance will change after continuous rainy days, especially succulents. Master good lighting supplement methods to allow your plants to grow healthily.

The way to increase light is to use lights. A 1400-watt light bulb produces the same illumination as sunlight at a distance of 2 meters from the plant. If the irradiation distance is shortened, the light intensity used can be reduced in inverse proportion to the square of the distance from the plant. For the sake of economy, you can also use 100-300 watt white fluorescent lamps, which can also achieve certain lighting conditions and meet the growth requirements of plants; this light source will not burn the plants when it approaches the plants.

Only 10-12% of incandescent light is used as light energy, and the rest is heat energy; when it is close to plants, the plants may be burned. The plant bio-lamp manufactured in recent years is more suitable for providing additional light to plants. To increase the length of daylight, use incandescent lamps and turn on the lights in the middle of the night to prevent plants from forming flower buds during the long dark period. Incandescent light has a long wave of red light and is most effective in interrupting periods of darkness. Generally, light is added from 20:00 to 2:00 at night, which can destroy the accumulation of substances that stimulate flowering in the plant during the dark period. Fluorescent lamps do not have the long-wave red light to prevent flower bud formation and cannot be used.

Shading method

Use reed curtains, shade screens, or place it in the shade to block out light. Planting shade trees can also help.

In order to shorten the length of daylight and block out light, you can use black cloth, black paper, black plastic film and other materials to create a light-tight environment.

The choice of shading materials and shading time should take into account the current temperature. If the temperature is too high during shading, it will affect the normal growth of the plants. The shading time should be connected with the night, that is, it should start before sunrise or sunset, so that the flowers can differentiate flower buds during the long night.
