Cutting method of purple leaf pulp grass

Cutting method of purple leaf pulp grass

1. Cutting time

Purple-leaved sorrel grass cuttings are usually carried out in spring or autumn, when the temperature and climate are suitable, which is more conducive to rooting and survival. If it is propagated by cuttings in summer and winter, the survival rate is very low, because it will enter dormancy in high or low temperature environments, and it is difficult to take root if the temperature is not suitable.

2. Cutting method

1. Leaf cuttings: You can use leaves for cuttings. Choose leaves that are healthy and disease-free. It is best to dip rooting powder at the bottom. It likes a humid environment, so the best substrate for cuttings is moistened pure pearlite or sphagnum moss. Just insert the prepared leaves on it, pay attention to moisturizing, and put them in a cool place after inserting.

2. Bulb cuttings: In addition to leaves, bulbs can also be used as cuttings for propagation. Choose plants with large and thick taproots and long-axis bulbs, as this proves that they have sufficient nutrients and are more conducive to rooting and survival. When taking cuttings, carefully peel off the scales on the bulb and then sprinkle them directly on the medium. Alternatively, the bulbs can be divided into small sections and then inserted into the substrate for propagation. After plugging in, you also need to keep it moisturized and warm. Wait until the growth stabilizes in the later stage before transplanting it into a pot.
