Which flowers are suitable for flower arrangement?

The abundance of flowers on the market

There are still many artificially processed dried flowers in the current flower market, which are also good materials for flower arrangement. Although they are not as fresh and lively as fresh flowers, they have unique natural colors, or they can be processed into unique colors.

In addition, there are artificial flowers of various textures, such as silk flowers, plastic flowers, paper flowers, metal flowers, etc. The flower arrangements made from them can be placed in the living room, which can not only play the role of floral decoration, but are also economical and easy to manage.

When buying fresh cut flowers, pay attention to the following

1. The longer the branches grow, the fresher they become. In order to keep the flowers fresh and improve their water absorption, florists cut off a section of the lower end of the stems of cut flowers every day. Therefore, the longer the stem, the fresher the flower.

2. Observe the overall shape of the flowers. Any flower stems that are slightly wilted or yellowed, or that have been immersed in water, or whose leaves have turned brown or black, are not fresh and should not be purchased.

3. Touch the branches in the water with your hands. If you touch the stem of the squid in the water with your hand and feel it is slippery, it means the squid has been left for 5-6 days and is not fresh enough, so it is not suitable to buy.

4. It is not advisable to buy flowers that are mostly fully open.

5. It is not advisable to buy flowers that are too small. The reason why the flower is too small may sometimes be due to the removal of the damaged petals on the outer edge.

6. The color of the flowers should be bright. The petals should be springy and the colors should be bright.

Selection of flower types for different parts

1. Linear flowers. The entire flower material of linear flowers is in the shape of long strips or lines. Use the natural forms of plants, such as straight lines or curves, to form the outline of the shape, which is the skeleton. For example: snapdragon, snakeweed, delphinium, gentian, silver willow, forsythia, etc.

2. Fixed-shaped flowers. The flowers are relatively large and have their own unique shape, making them very individual looking flowers. As the most eye-catching flower in the design, it is often used as a visual focal point. The characteristics of its shape make its personality more prominent, so you should pay attention to bringing out its characteristics when using it. For example: lily, anthurium, bird of paradise, peony, etc.

3. Cluster flowers (block flowers). The flowers are concentrated into larger circles or blocks and are generally used between linear flowers and shaped flowers to make them an important flower material to complete the shape. When there are no fixed-shaped flowers, you can use the most beautiful blooming cluster flowers instead of fixed-shaped flowers and place them at the visual focal point. For example: carnation, gerbera, rose, white gerbera, etc.

4. Filling flowers (scattered flowers). There are many branches and the flowers are relatively small, with many small flowers on one branch or stem. It has the function of filling the space of the shape and connecting the flowers. For example: chrysanthemum, lilac, baby's breath, freesia, white peacock, etc.
