The propagation technique of Jianlan

Introduction to Jianlan

Jianlan, also known as Four Seasons Orchid, Male Orchid, Suruga Orchid, etc., is a terrestrial plant that is widely distributed in various countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia, as far north as Japan. It likes to grow in an environment with high humidity and good air circulation. It usually grows on the stone walls on the hillsides in deep valleys and mountains, or on inclined slopes or rock crevices, or under the shade of mixed woods.

Jianlan likes shade and cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. It is not resistant to dryness and its suitable growth temperature is 15-30℃. Temperatures above 35℃ are not conducive to the healthy growth of Jianlan. Jianlan does not have high requirements for soil, but sandy soil rich in humus is preferred, and good drainage and ventilation conditions must be ensured.

The propagation technique of Jianlan

1. Jianlan is propagated by division, which can be carried out in spring and autumn, and can be propagated by division once every three years.

2. When dividing, choose Jianlan plants with strong growth and dense pseudobulbs, and reduce watering before division.

3. When potting after division, first cover the hole at the bottom of the pot with broken tiles, then spread coarse stones, about one-fifth to one-quarter of the depth of the pot, then put coarse granular soil or a small amount of fine soil, and then plant with sandy soil rich in replication value, so that the pseudobulbs are just buried in the soil. Keep a two-centimeter edge on the edge of the pot and cover it with fine stones or green cloud grass. Make sure to keep at least 5 connected pseudobulbs in each clump after division.

4. Finally, water it thoroughly and place it in a cool place for about 10 to 15 days. During this period, keep the soil moist. After that, gradually reduce the amount of watering and carry out normal maintenance!

I hope flower lovers can care for the healthy growth of Jianlan according to the propagation techniques of Jianlan introduced by the editor!
