Differences between Panax ginseng and American ginseng

The leaves of American ginseng are broadly ovate in shape, 4 to 9 cm long, 2.5 to 5 cm wide, with a pointed tip and coarse serrations on the edges. The petiole is about 1.5 cm long.

2. The difference of flowers

Ginseng has a relatively long pedicel, which can reach 30 cm in length, with an umbel inflorescence, each inflorescence containing about 4 to 40 small flowers. The petals are oval in shape and light yellow-green in color.

The pedicels of American ginseng are thin and short, the petals are rectangular in shape, and green-white in color.

3. Differences in roots

The ginseng root is very long, about 30 to 60 cm long, with a thick texture and slight branches at the bottom.

The stem of American ginseng is about 25 cm long and has longitudinal stripes on it.
