The reproduction method of Dendrobium officinale

Propagation by division

Reproduction time: After the flowers fade (its flowering period is from March to April), repot.

Reproduction method: Select plants that are too dense. When the flowers of this plant wither, dig it out of the pot as a whole. First clean the original old roots and then divide it. When dividing the plant, use a sharp knife to cut the roots. If there are small parts connected, you can tear them apart directly with your hands. The less damage to the roots, the better. Each small plant that has been divided needs to have its old roots cleaned further. Then you can plant it directly in the flowerpot, cover it with a new layer of soil, and pat it lightly with your hands.

Bud propagation

Breeding time: After the new buds sprout in spring, and the plants must be more than 3 years old.

Propagation method: If there are new shoots growing at the base or stem of the plant, you can pick them all off and replant them. But each new sprout must have 3 to 4 leaves, 2 to 3 roots, and the length of the root must be between 4 cm and 5 cm. You can cut it directly with a sharp knife, then soak the cut with mancozeb before planting it in the soil. After about 2 years, you can enjoy the flowers.

Cutting propagation

Breeding time: around March to April when the flowers are repotted

Reproduction method: After all its flowers have fallen, you can repot the plant. At this time, you can select branches that have not bloomed, divide them into multiple sections for cuttings. The wound should also be soaked before cutting. The environment for cuttings must maintain a certain level of humidity, and then be placed in a cool place where the sun cannot reach the ground. No need to water in the first week, just spray water. Small sprouts will appear in 1 to 2 months.
