How to grow potted water lilies

1. Soil

It has specific requirements for soil, which means that ordinary soil cannot meet it. The best soil is one that contains a lot of humus, and we need clay loam, and of course it must be fertile. The soil is actually very particular, because if the soil is too sticky it will affect the growth and expansion of the lotus root. If it is too soft it will easily be damaged by the wind and cause problems with the roots. So the best thing is to use soil from the pond, or a mixture of garden soil, loess and sand. In fact, the soil it needs is alkaline, so we generally keep it at 6.5 to 7.5.

2. Lighting

The light it likes is strong light, and we need to let it be under light for seven or eight hours every day, which is very good for it. For example, it can increase the number of flower buds and prolong the flowering period. Because of its light-loving nature, we must not keep it in the shade all the time. If you want to place it indoors, you can't keep it for too long. The next best option is to grow it on the balcony. Furthermore, we cannot leave it exposed to the scorching sun at noon.

3. Temperature

This factor cannot be treated casually as it is very demanding. The temperature for its germination is between eight and ten degrees, while the temperature for the growth of lotus stems is fourteen degrees. When it comes to growth, the temperature required is between twenty-five and thirty degrees. In addition, we should know that it grows faster on days with alternating sunshine and rain.

4. Fertilization

This is a necessary link. Generally, the amount of base fertilizer we give it is based on the size of the pot. One month after planting it, we need to apply liquid fertilizer to it. In addition, after it grows leaves, we also need to apply top dressing to it, and the number of times needs to be up to one or two times. When the flowers are in bloom, we need to apply superphosphoric acid every week.

5. Moisture

We need to add water to it every day in summer and ensure the quality of the water. You don't need to add too much water in autumn and winter.
