How to grow spring orchid

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The soil should be loose, nutrient-rich, and slightly acidic. For example, mix leaf mold and sandy loam evenly, with each accounting for half.

(2) Temperature: The most suitable temperature is between 10 and 25 degrees, but it also varies at different times. From March to October, the best temperature is 18 to 25 degrees; from October to March of the following year, the best temperature is 10 to 18 degrees. Pay attention to keeping warm in winter, the temperature should be between three and eight degrees.

(3) Watering: It is dormant in winter and requires little water, but water can be provided once every five to seven days. During the growing season, you need to observe the soil condition and water it when it is dry. However, avoid using too much water, and the water temperature should not be too low.

(4) Fertilization: You can use dilute organic fertilizer or fertilizer specifically for orchids. More is needed during the growing season, and the amount can be slightly higher; in the winter when it is dormant, no application is required. Avoid high-concentration fertilizers and raw fertilizers.

2. Thinning buds during flowering period

During the flowering stage of the plant, you need to select those plump and healthy buds and remove the others to avoid wasting nutrients. In addition, when some flowers are about to wither, they should be cut off in time. This helps reduce nutrient consumption and is also beneficial for flowering next year.

3. Pest and disease control

Spring orchids are easily affected by some diseases and pests, such as anthracnose and scale insects. Once discovered, the affected parts should be cut off in time and sprayed with appropriate pesticides. At the same time, attention should be paid to issues such as ventilation and light transmission.
