Tomato Planting Season and Time

The planting time of tomatoes is generally divided by season, and the planting time is also different in different regions. For example, the Northeast region should sow in March or June, the North China region should sow in January-February, and the rest of the regions can sow between March and August.

There are many varieties of tomatoes, the more common ones are large-leaf tomatoes, pear-shaped tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, plum-shaped tomatoes, Chesmani tomatoes, etc. However, there is not much difference in the planting time of different varieties of tomatoes.

Tomato harvest season

The harvest time of tomatoes grown in different regions is not the same. For example, the Northeast region harvests in July-September, the North China region harvests in June-August, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River mainly harvest in autumn. The yield of tomatoes grown in the open air is 7,000-8,000 jin per mu, and the yield of tomatoes grown in greenhouses is about 10,000 jin per mu.

Tomato planting steps and methods

1. Variety selection

When planting tomatoes in early spring, you should choose early-maturing, cold-resistant varieties. If you grow them in the open field, you should choose medium- to late-maturing varieties.

2. Seed germination

Before sowing, soak the seeds in clean water, then rub them repeatedly to remove impurities, and then soak them for 5-7 hours before sowing.

3. Planting

Place the processed seeds on the seedbed, spray water in time to keep the soil moist, control the temperature at 25-30℃, and wait for the seeds to germinate.
