How to grow cilantro

How to grow cilantro

1. Choose the variety

Coriander comes in two varieties: small-grain and large-grain. The large-grain variety has a slightly lighter flavor, but it grows faster and has a higher yield. Small-grain varieties have a strong aroma, but low yields and slow growth. If you are eating it at home, you can choose the small-grain variety.

2. Deep plowing of the soil

Coriander does not have high requirements for the soil, but it is best to have sufficient nutrients. You can sprinkle some decomposed chicken and duck manure such as farmyard manure, add a small amount of compound fertilizer, deep plow the soil and break up large clods of soil.

3. Direct sowing

After deep plowing the soil, you can directly sow the seeds. Sow the selected seeds on the soil surface. After sowing, you can cover it with a thin layer of soil or broken straw. It will take about a week to take root and sprout.

4. Seeding at the right time

After germination and growth, thinning out is required. It should not be too dense and should be kept at a distance of more than 1 cm. Try not to thin out the seeds too early. Wait until they are a little bigger and the thinned seedlings can be eaten directly without wasting.

5. Post-maintenance

You can apply fertilizer after thinning. It is recommended to apply nitrogen fertilizer and combine it with watering. Also pay attention to timely weeding to avoid affecting growth.
